Shared Exporter Settings
Quality Settings
Section titled “Quality Settings”The Export Resolution setting controls the maximum horizontal distance between any two points on the surface of the topper source mesh. This is the main control for determining the quality of the exported mesh and is seperate from the export resolution. It is always worth remembering that the bases will be printed out and that generally they are pretty small.
While there might be a substantial difference in the way the base looks when the resolution is set to 0.2mm in the viewport and 0.1mm, the reality is that the difference is the thickness of a human hair and you will often not be able to see it.
You can also choose between the lattice or grid surface reconstruction algorithm. You can usually use this on lattice, but you may get marginally better results using grid if your base contains lots of right angles.
You can choose to include the Topper, Bottom or Decorations in your export. If you choose more than one the parts will be fused together on export.
Decorations
Section titled “Decorations”Decorations will be fused with the base or with each other on export. If oyu want to export a decoration seperately just place it by the side of the base.
Trim geometry below topper bottom
Section titled “Trim geometry below topper bottom”By default basemancer will trim any geometry that protrudes below the bottom of the topper. This is so you don;t end up with bits of decoration sticking out of your base. However there are times you will want to turn this off, such as if you have added magnet holders to the bottom of your base, or if you have multiple toppers. You can also turn this off on a per decoration basis by opening the decoration’s info panel.
Scale and Orientation
Section titled “Scale and Orientation”The Scale control is a multiplier that translates between Basemancer (and Blender) space and that commonly used by 3D printers.
The Axis controls allow you to adjust the orientation of the exported base.
Other Settings
Section titled “Other Settings”Remove internal voids will filter out any internal voids and hollows in your model that could trap resin or otherwise cause issues. You almost always want to leave this on unless you have imported your own decorations that are already hollowed and want to preserve this.
If a boolean fails, export separate shells is available for base and topper exports that do not include decorations.
Save export report will save a text file alongside your exported model. This is useful for debugging and if you need support you’ll probably be asked to send this.
